In a future where language communication has ceased to exist, consciousness is as transparent as water, leaving nowhere to hide...... Is emotion the last salvation or the ultimate cage?
Language is like a symbol, linked to bodily experiences to produce emotions, but how much connection is needed to bring about a profound realization rather than an impediment? As human senses and emotions become increasingly virtualized, reality seems frozen...... Is love cold or warm? Or has it long been confined to the virtual, merely an illusion?
Choreographer's Arena presents the final phase of a three-year contemporary dance theater development plan - the dance drama 'Black • Era', choreographed and directed by Mak Cheuk-hung. After two years and three phases, a group of partners come together in this rapidly changing city to allow the non-linguistic nature of dance to directly collide with the script, revealing agitated physicality. In a fragmented and crumbling world, the kinetic energy of human creation and nature leads the audience into the theater to explore the essence of causality on stage.
